We can all remember what life was like as a teenager. Intense highs and lows. Idealistic. Creative. Thinking big. Impressionable. These are some of the things that come to my mind when I start to think about being a teen in today's complex world. Camp has been THE solace for many teenagers and will hopefully stay that way for many summers to come. We have always striven to be a place where our campers (especially in Noar - Upper Camp) can explore who they are in a safe and nurturing environment. This doesn't just happen through happenstance; it is nurtured and developed by the adults they interact with on a daily basis. We often call this the "culture of camp."

Yet culture doesn't just happen. Leaders inspire and help create culture. And excellent leaders have the ability to positively influence everything that organizations strive to do. Our Yavneh community was blessed for many years with the dynamic and stable guidance from Davida Amkraut, a mentor and friend to many in our community (including me) Luckily for us, one of the people that she mentored during her time at camp is our new Rosh Noar, (Head of Upper Camp), Alanna Wolf.

Alanna is no stranger to Yavneh. Her grandmother, Ruth Wolf z'l, was an active member of the Yavneh community for many years helping raise much needed funds. Her dad, David, (K'71), spent many summers at camp and her siblings and many cousins attended as well. Her family bleeds Yavneh! Alanna, herself, was a chanicha, madricha, rosh, and rosh kerem during her tenure at camp, and we are thrilled to see her return to her summer home with her husband whom she met at camp too! Alanna is ready to jump right in, to bring her own talents and unique understanding of camp culture, and continue to bring excellence to camper care. She is kind and empathetic, two qualities that will serve her well as she navigates all the amazing characteristics of our campers in Noar.

Shabbat Shalom.

Kol Yavneh קול יבנה

This week's guest voice: Alanna Wolf (K'08)Rosh Noar (Head of Upper Camp)

As long as I can remember, Yavneh has been a part of my life. Before I was old enough to be a chanicha (camper), I remember driving up to camp with my parents for zimriyah and at visiting day to see my brothers. Every opportunity we had, we were up at camp. Once I approached Gurim age, my parents started lightly (or not so lightly) encouraging the idea of going to camp.

COVID-19 FAQ

Learn more about our preparation for summer 2021

Q: Will you require testing before campers arrive at camp? What about testing throughout the season?

Yes, we intend to use testing as a strategy of keeping COVID out of camp all together, and/or catching it as early as we can. Please note that our testing protocol is based on what we know TODAY, and testing protocols are subject to change...

Q: Will staff be vaccinated? Will staff require testing?

Thanks to the work of the American Camping Association and the CDC, camp staff have been classified in the same category as  other essential childcare workers for vaccine distribution...

Things We Can Do This Summer With Your Help

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation is stepping up once again to help camps this summer. The All Together Now Match 2021 will provide Camp Yavneh with $106,000 if we raise $212,000.  Every gift you make now will be matched $1 for every $2 donated to Yavneh.  Our goal is to raise this money and meet the match by August 1st so we can receive a bonus of $10,000

Our campers and families need camp now more than ever before. Despite our previous fundraising success, we are faced with a new set of challenges - to open camp safely and welcome back as many families as possible. We ask for your financial support to help us achieve the following. Click here to read and learn more
