Making new friends is such an important part of the summer camp experience and being at Yavneh is no exception. I still have a number of close friends from my camp days. Back in those “old times”, we counted down the days until we would see our friends again at the annual reunion held at Hebrew College in Boston. It got us through until we were able to be at Yavneh for another summer. I am thrilled to announce that we will be holding reunion events again in 2022. More details will be coming out soon but for now hold the following dates:

January 16, 2022 - Boston area 

February 6, 2022 - NYC area

March 6, 2022 - DC area

You don’t need to live in one place to attend any of the reunion events. At each event, we will hand out yearbooks, reconnect with friends, and have some type of activity. These reunions are open to all campers who attended camp in 2021. If you have specific questions about reunion, please contact Ethan Naviasky at ethan@campyavneh.org.

“How Yavneh has inspired me to run for a larger purpose”

This coming February I am running the Miami Marathon. More importantly, I am going to be running for Chai Lifeline, which is an organization that benefits children with cancer, disabilities, and other serious medical conditions.

This past summer I had a great time working at Camp Yavneh and forming strong relationships with my campers. One of my favorite parts was always being high spirited, and spreading a feeling of positivity and joy for all campers throughout the 8 weeks. The concept of camp, and everything that I’ve gained from it, including playing sports and having deep conversations about Judaism, Israel, and life in general, has played a pivotal role as I continue to grow...

Y'sod Yavneh - יסוד יבנה - Yavneh's Founding 

It was the fall of 1922. Louis Hurwich had no experience running a camp. But his wife Leah did. At the end of the 30’s Louis Hurwich thought they should rent a small place that would serve as a summer camp and would not be expensive. They thought to try it for just one summer. Because of the depression, building had ceased and well-kept places were not available for rent. Louis Hurwich kept trying to sell his idea of a Hebrew summer camp...
